BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University men’s golf head coach Ekren Miller announced the addition of two student-athletes to the BSU men’s golf program for the 2020-21 season. Max Karnik (Fargo, N.D./Fargo Davies HS) and Jack Southard (Princeton, Minn./Princeton HS) signed national letters of intent to join the Beavers for the 2020-21 season.
All signees are contingent upon admission to BSU and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.
* Max Karnik (Fargo, N.D./Fargo Davies HS)
Fargo Davies HS: Letter-winner for the Eagles’ boys golf and boys hockey programs… Finished 15th of 76 individually at the North Dakota State Tournament in 2019 and helped the team to a third place finish… Held a scoring average of 77.1… Qualified for the championship flight at the Pine to Palm Golf Tournament… Helped the Eagles hockey program to a Class A State Runner-up finish in 2019… Member of the school’s honor roll and a Soaring Eagle Award recipient.
Personal: Born on April 17, 2002… Son of James and Beth Karnik… Plans to major in Business while attending Bemidji State… Father, James, played hockey at University of Minnesota, Crookston.
* Jack Southard (Princeton, Minn./Princeton HS)
Princeton HS: Four-year letter-winner for the Tigers’ boys golf program and two-year letter-winner for the boys hockey program… Two-time Minnesota State Tournament participant and two-time Mississippi 8 All-Conference selection… Held a scoring average of 75.2 during 2019… Three-year participant in the Minnesota Junior Golf Players Tour… Member of Princeton’s honor roll.
Personal: Born on June 5, 2002… Son of David and Rebecca Southard… Undecided on a major at Bemidji State.
