ONALASKA, Wis. (Golf Club at Cedar Creek) -- The Bemidji State University men’s golf team carded a 12-over-par 300 Sunday to lead the field after 18 holes of the Winona State University Invitational.  The event was played at the par-71, 6,751-yard Golf Club At Cedar Creek in Onalaska, Wis.

With a 300 on the first day of competition, the Beavers hold a six-stroke lead over Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) foe Wayne State College, which posted a 306 (+18) to sit in second.  In a tightly contested battle for the top of the leader board, just four shots separate second place from fifth.  Joining WSC in the log jam are: Minnesota State University (308), University of Minnesota, Crookston (309) and Augustana College (310).

BSU was led by Chris Curb (Fr., Bemidji, Minn.).  The freshman carded a 73 (+2) Sunday to tie for third place with 18 holes to play.  The Beavers also got a strong individual performance out of Casey Hill (So., Virginia, Minn.), who finished one stroke back in fifth with a plus-three 74.

The BSU tandem has their sights set on Jake Sanders of the University of Minnesota, Crookston, who turned in a 71 (E) to claim the low round Sunday.

Bemidji State and the rest of the WSU Invitational field will be back on the course first thing tomorrow morning to complete the 36-hole event by playing 18.
