Owning a six-shot lead over Wayne State College and the rest of the invitational field after a day-one total of 300 (+12), the Beavers bounced back with a 293 (+5) on day two, due in part to a two-under-par 69 by Curb, to remain atop the leader board. The Beavers’ 36-hole team total of 593 (+25) was good enough to hold of a hard-charging Minnesota State University, Mankato team that carded a day two 296 (+8) to jump past Wayne State (306-309--615; +47) and into second place. Curb, who sat two strokes off the lead in third place with a 73 (+2) after 18 holes, turned in a day two-low 69 (-2) Monday to finish the event tied with Minnesota State’s Kyle Bahe for low individual honors with an even-par 142. Curb was joined in the top 10 by teammates Casey Hill (So., Virginia, Minn.), who finished in third place with a 74-70--144 (+2) and Jim Foss (Jr., Roseau, Minn.) who fired a two-day total of 76-75--151 (+9) to complete the event tied for eighth. The Bemidji State men’s golf team will return to competition this weekend when it makes a trip to Monticello, Minn. to compete in the St. John’s University Invitational. Opening-round play is set for Saturday morning, while the final round of the 36-hole invitational will take place Sunday at the Monticello Country Club. --bsu– ![]() |
