Minnesota State was crowned the 2008-09 NSIC Men’s Golf Team Champions as they won a tie-breaker (Total strokes in the three consecutive conference rounds) over the Beavers from Bemidji State. Both teams accumulated 58 team points. As a team, the Beavers won the third and final round of the NSIC Tournament with a two day total of 589 (296-293, +21). Adam Winans from Upper Iowa University and Brady Strangstalien of Winona State University came in second and third in the event. Winans finished eight points off Mackedanz score while Strangstalien was 15 points off the pace. Mackedanz and Jesse Nelson were named to the 2008-09 NSIC All-Conference team for BSU as the top ten finishers received All-Conference honors. Nelson finished 10th (99-108-28--235) while Mackedanz (87-105-108--300) took home medalist honors. Other individual participants for BSU included: James Foss (87-68-63--218) who garnered 12th place, Derek Harris who finished 35th with 119, Casey Dale who placed 36th with a 117 and Josh Dale who placed in a tie for 37th. The unique 72-hole championship is played as a combination of two 36-hole events. The first half of the championship was played Sept. 13-15 at the Eagle Valley Golf Course in Woodbury, Minn. with the final round completed at the Jewel Golf Course this week. BSU will continue its 2009 spring season on Apr. 19-21 when they will compete in the NCAA Regional Tournament in Denver, Colo. Bemidji State University, located in Bemidji, Minn., is an NCAA Division II institution and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).

were awarded to determine the Conference Champion. Points were awarded
in the following manner: 1st place 22 points, 2nd place 20 points, 3rd
place 18 points, 4th place 16 points, 5th place 14 points, 6th place 12
points, 7th place 10 points, 8th place 8 points, 9th place 6 points,
10th place 4 points, and 11 place 2 points. For all team ties for the
weekend, the points will be totaled and then split evenly among the
