Bemidji State remains in good academic standing with NCAA

The Bemidji State University men’s and women’s ice hockey teams have again met the Academic Progress Rate (APR) standards set fourth by the NCAA. These scores provide performance benchmarks for all NCAA Division I programs under the Association’s standards for academic progress and performance beginning with data from the 2006-07 and extending through the 2009-10 academic year.

Adams selected to Capitol One Academic All-District V team

Bemidji State University men’s ice hockey defenseman Ryan Adams (Sr., Deloraine, Manitoba) has been selected to the 2010-11 Capital One Academic All-District® V Men’s At-Large Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Adams, a Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Scholar Athlete, earned a first team nod and will now be included on the 2010-11 University Division Capitol One/CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot.


Kinne, Areshenko and Hunt to captain 2011-12 BSU men’s hockey team

Ben Kinne (Jr., St. Paul, Minn.), Jake Areshenko (Jr., Port Coquitlam, British Columbia) and Brad Hunt (Sr., Ridge Meadows, British Columbia) will serve as the captains of the 2011-12 Bemidji State University men’s ice hockey team. Bemidji State men’s hockey adds four more for 2011-12 season

Students ready to back the Beavers at the BREC

Lines of students are normal on a college campus, but lines of students in near freezing temperatures at 5 a.m. are not nearly as common. Wednesday morning hundreds of students braved the elements and some like Mike Geisler, who was first in line, camped over night, to get a chance to purchase student season tickets for the BSU hockey team's inaugural season at the Bemidji Regional Event Center.

The Bemidji State University Athletic Media Relations office has confirmed a report by the St. Paul Pioneer Press that men’s ice hockey forward Ben Kinne (Jr., St. Paul, Minn.) suffered a stroke on Friday, July 23, 2010. The family continues to see positive signs of improvement as he continues to recuperate.

Don Maloney, General Manager of the National Hockey League's Phoenix Coyotes announced Friday that the Coyotes signed former Bemidji State University goaltender Matt Climie to a free agent contracts. As per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
