Senske and Harms named Beaver Pride Athletes of the Week

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University’s Sierra Senske and Brendan Harms have been selected as Beaver Pride Athletes of the Week, after outstanding athletic performances during the week of Jan. 26-Feb. 1.

Senske led the Beavers’ offense averaging 17.5 points per game, which included a 23-point performance against Winona State University Friday.  Senske posted a 46.4 shooting percentage (13-of-28) and went 9-of-11 (81.1 percent) from the charity stripe, which led the team.

The Glyndon, Minn. native leads Bemidji State in scoring averaging 15.0 points per game, which ranks 10th in the NSIC, and on the boards averaging 5.7 rebounds per contest.

Harms was one of six Bemidji State players to finish the team's recent Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) series versus No. 6 Bowling Green State University, Jan. 30-31, with two points. He posted an assist on Gerry Fitzgerald’s game-winning power-play goal early in the third period Friday before netting the first game-tying goal of his collegiate career in dramatic fashion Saturday. The sophomore was on the doorstep to knot the game 2-2 on an extra-attacker goal with just 55 seconds to play. He was a +1 plus/minus on the weekend.

Harms is second on the team with 17 points (7g, 10a) and has scored a point in 11 of the last 12 games he has appeared in.

The Bemidji State men’s hockey team hits the road this weekend as it travels to Houghton, Mich. to battle No. 5 Michigan Technological University in a WCHA series. The puck drops at 6:07 p.m. Friday and 4:07 p.m. Saturday.

The Bemidji State women’s basketball team returns to BSU Gymnasium this weekend to face Southwest Minnesota State University at 6 p.m. Friday and University of Sioux Falls at 4 p.m. Saturday.
