BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Bemidji State Head Men' Hockey Coach Tom Serratore and captain Kyle Bauman met with the media Tuesday to preview the Beavers' upcoming WCHA road series at Michigan Tech and its importance down the stretch.
The Beavers will travel east to Michigan's Upper Peninsula Feb. 9-10 to battle the Huskies in a two-game WCHA series with major postseason implications. The Beavers, who hold down the No. 4 spot in the WCHA stanings and final home playoff host position, will go head-to-head with No. 5 Michigan Tech, which is just two points behind in the league standings. If either team is able to win the series, or even more, earn a sweep, it could also mean they would host a rematch of this series on their home ice to open the WCHA Playoffs.
Not only will the Beavers need to shake a two-game losing skid to help solidify home ice, they will also skate into a hostile MacInnes Arena environment as MTU is hosting its annual Winter Carnival this weekend and expect a capacity crowd each night.
The Beavers and Huskies open the series at 6:07 p.m. (CST) Friday with the puck set to drop at 4:07: p.m. (CST) in Saturday's series finale.
