Miller and Rosén lead Beavers to sweep of Alabama-Huntsville

BEMIDJI, Minn. (Sanford Center) -- Aaron Miller posted two goals and an assist, while Elias Rosén logged a goal and two assists to lead the Bemidji State University men's hockey team to a 7-0 victory Saturday to complete the Western Collegiate Hockey Association series sweep of the University of Alabama-Huntsville.

The Beavers stretched their home unbeaten streak to six games with 12 skaters recording at least one point in BSU's second seven-goal night of the season.

BSU opened up a 1-0 lead on a goal by Rosén just 1:22 after the opening faceoff and carried the one-goal lead through 30 minutes of play. An even-strength goal by Nick Cardelli at the 10:25 mark of the second period sparked a three-goal scoring outburst over the next 8:14. Miller scored his fifth goal of the season at the 13:16 mark and struck again for his sixth with 2:51 left in the frame. Owen Sillinger sent the Beavers to the locker room at the break owning a 5-0 advantage.

The Beavers' power-play unit came to life in the third period.

After going 0-for-2 during the first two periods, BSU converted both of its chances in the third. Cardelli posted a power-play marker at the 13:31 mark and Hampus Sjödahl was on the back door to tap in a rebound for his second goal of 2019-20 at the 17:32 mark.

The Beavers again won the special teams battle netting two goals on four power-play opportunities, while snuffing out all four of the Chargers' chances on the man advantage.

Zach Driscoll finished the series with 23 saves in his second shutout of the season. He moves to 6-3-1 overall and is 6-2-0 versus the WCHA.

BSU, which is 6-4-2 on the season and 6-2-0-0 versus WCHA competition after the sweep, will be back on the road Nov. 29-30. The Beavers will travel to Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. for a two-game league series with Lake Superior State University. The series will get underway at 6:07 p.m. (CT) Friday with the puck set to drop for the series finale at 4:07 p.m. (CT) Saturday.
