To offset a $2-per-ticket parking fee implemented this summer by Bemidji’s Sanford Center, Bemidji State University has announced it will reduce the price of its men’s ice hockey season tickets by $36.

The Bemidji State University men’s ice hockey program today announced the addition of Markus Gerbrandt (Edmonton, Alberta), James Hansen (Maple Grove, Minn.), Brad Robbins (Murrieta, Calif.), Fabian Sivnert (Höllviken, Sweden) and Cory Ward (Las Vegas, N.V.) to the Beaver hockey program for the 2012-13 season. All five incoming student-athletes signed National Letters of Intent during the NCAA’s regular signing period that began April 11.

The Bemidji State University men’s ice hockey program today announced the signing of defenseman Graeme McCormack (Thunder Bay, Ontario) to a National Letter of Intent during the NCAA’s early signing period (Nov. 9-16). McCormack is currently top-scoring defenseman in the BCHL and is playing for Nanaimo Clippers.

As expected, five members of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) announced Tuesday they would be leaving the association to participate in the start-up NCAA Division I National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) beginning with the 2013-14 season. The departing members include: Denver, Colorado College, Minnesota Duluth, Nebraska-Omaha and North Dakota. The announcement came just months after Minnesota and Wisconsin made public their intentions to leave the league for the Big Ten Conference, and further accelerates the changing landscape in collegiate hockey.

Lowe recorded a career-high two goals, including the game-winner, while adding two assists in the Beavers’ 5-1 victory Friday. For his efforts, he has been selected as Beaver Pride's Athlete of the Week.

The win marked the 500th for the Beaver hockey program in its 43rd, and final, season of calling the John S. Glas Fieldhouse home.

For just the eighth time in the 11 years since the team made the jump to the NCAA Division I level, the Bemidji State men’s ice hockey team has swept the College Hockey America weekly awards. CHA officials announced today that, Ian Lowe (Jr., F, Bradwardine, Manitoba) has been selected offensive player of the week, Brad Hunt (So., D, Ridge Meadows, British Columbia) earned defensive player of the week laurels and Jordan George (Fr., F, Madison, Wis.) is the recipient of the league’s rookie of the week award.
