Combs played in 37 of 38 games for BSU as a Freshman... Totaled 13 goals, to finish second on the team and 11th in the WCHA, to go along with seven assists for 20 points... Led the team with 128 shots on goal and also blocked 16 shots on the season... Finished second on the team with five power-play goals and also registered one game-winning goal... Scored his first career goal at Alaska (11/4/17)... Earned WCHA Rookie of the Week laurels following a two-goal effort in a 5-3 BSU victory at Princeton (11/27/17)... Logged a career-high three points (1g-2a) in a 4-1 at Farris State (1/20/18)... Finished seventh in the conference in freshman scoring.
Prior To BSU
Combs came to BSU after playing for the Wenatchee Wild of the BCHL from 2015-2017. There he played in 28 games during the 2015-2016 season and 58 during the 2016-2017 season. Throughout his career with the Wild, Combs recorded 66 goals, 15 during his first season and 51 in the second. Combs also had 13 assists in 2015-2016 and 33 in 2016-2017. During his time with Wenatchee, Combs appeared in 10 playoff games each season. In these games he recorded a total of eight goals and six assists. Charlie was awarded the BCHL First Team All-Star award for the 2016-2017 season.
Charlie Combs started his junior hockey career with the Amarillo Bulls of the NAHL during the 2014-2015 season. Prior to playing for Wenatchee, he played for Muskegon and Dubuque of the USHL in the 2015-2016 season.
