Broke onto the scene seeing time in 30 of BSU’s 36 game as a sophomore...Locked up a victory in his first start for the Beavers turning away 20 Air Force shots for a 3-1 win (10/9/09)... The win sparked a run of seven consecutive starts without a loss (6-0-1)... Registered his first collegiate shutout Nov. 6 stopping 23 Robert Morris scoring attempts... Collected a career-high 32 saves in a 5-1 win versus Robert Morris Jan. 29... Would matched his career-best 32 saves less than a month later in a 6-1 victory over Niagara (2/20/10) to earn the last win by a goaltender in the John S. Glas Fieldhouse... Closed out his 19th win of the season Mar. 5 at Ala.-Huntsville matching a BSU Division I-era record for goaltender wins in a single, set by Mat Dalton in 2008-09... Is currently atop the Beavers’ career save percentage list (.919) and is second on their all-time goals against average list (2.20)... Is 3-0-0 versus top 5 teams in 2009-10... Backstopped a penaltykill unit that has allowed just 27 power-play goals on 178 opponent opportunities (.848) and 10 power-play goals in 90 CHA opponent opportunities (.889)... Bakala and the Beavers enter the NCAA Tournament having allowed just three power-play goals in their last nine games... Earned a spot on the CHA All-Academic squad. 2008-09 (Freshman) Did not take the ice for any regular-season action, but posted a 3-0-0 record in exhibition play... Registered his first collegiate shutout in his first collegiate action, gaining a 7-0 victory over University of Manitoba Oct. 31... Posted a 4-2 win the following night, while making 18 saves... Turned away 24 shots in an exhibition win over a talented U.S. National Development U-18 Team Feb 27 to vault the Beavers to a 3-1 victory. Prior to BSU Dan Bakala joined the Beavers after playing three seasons for the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Calgary Royals... Bakala saw time in 122 games for the Royals and logged 4,840 minutes between the pipes. Bakala earned decisions in 43 of the Royals’ 62 contests in 2007-08 accounting for 14 of the team’s 19 victories while piling up 2,610 minutes in net for Calgary. In his final game as a junior, Feb. 26, Bakala earned the first star for his role in preserving a 5-4 victory over the Canmore Eagles... The goaltender stopped 39 shots in the third period alone and finished the contest with 62 saves. He finished the season with a 3.52 goals against average and an .895 save percentage.
