Sander hurled six-innings of shutout baseball against University of Minnesota, Crookston to open the 2010 season, Feb. 5 at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, giving-up just three hits in a 7-0 victory. He had a no-hitter going through four innings, retiring 12-of-13 batters. The lone baseman reached on a fielding error. He gave-up just one hit in each of the final three innings, all of which were singles. Sander fanned five batters, while giving-out two free passes. Sander started at first base for the other three games last weekend, batting .375 (3-for-8). He went 2-for-2 in game two of the double-dip with UMC, recording two RBI, knocking in the go-ahead and eventual game-winning run in the seventh inning with a sacrifice fly to right field. He also had a double in the game. In the field, Sander recorded 18 putouts and three assists, while committing zero errors. The BSU baseball team went 2-2 to open the 2010 campaign, downing UMC, 7-0 and 8-4, Feb. 5 before falling to Rockhurst University, 6-2 and 5-4, Feb. 6. The Beavers have a weekend off before traveling back to Metrodome for a four-game series with Northern State University in a nonconference tilt Feb. 21-22.
