Dale, a senior majoring in biology/chemistry/pre-dentistry, carried a 3.82 Grade Point Average into his final semester at Bemidji State. A three-time NSIC All-Academic selection and constant on the BSU Dean’s List, he has also been recognized on the athletic department’s 3.0 club. In addition, Dale was one of three BSU student-athletes to be awarded the inaugural NSIC/Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction Award. On the course, Dale posted a 79.3 average in 18 rounds during the 2009-10 season, which included a season-low one-over-par 73 in the final round of the 60th Annual BSU Invitational at the Bemidji Town and Country Club. In addition to an 11th-place finish at the Bemidji State/Minnesota, Crookston duel this spring, the senior finished among the top 20 individuals in three events, helped lead BSU to five team titles, a second place finish at the 2009-10 NSIC Championships and a berth into the NCAA Division II West/Central Super Regional. Dale becomes the fourth BSU student-athlete to earn Academic All-District honors during the 2009-10 academic year. He joins Brianna Duff (Jr., D, Ramsey, Minn.), who earned Third-Team All-District V accolades at the conclusion of the 2009 soccer campaign, setter Courtney Bitter (So., S, Bemidji, Minn.), who garnered second-team laurels at the conclusion of the most recent volleyball campaign and men’s ice hockey defenseman Kyle Hardwick (Sr., Warroad, Minn.), who was named First Team All-District V At-Large this spring. BSU has had at least one student-athlete named to the all-district team in each of the last eight years and boasts 13 academic All-America selections dating back to the 1970s. The CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams are selected by a vote of the 2,200-member CoSIDA organization. To be eligible, an athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 on a scale of 4.00. Sports Information Directors nominate eligible athletes from their schools, who are then voted onto the All-District teams. First-Team All-District honorees advance to the Academic All-America ballot. The program honors over 800 student-athletes around the nation each year, and since the program’s inception in 1952 nearly 17,000 have been named to Academic All-America Teams Dale and the BSU men’s golf team capped the 2009-10 campaign with a trip to the NCAA West/Central Super Regional at the Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif. In addition to the super regional berth, the Beavers placed second at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) championship, had three players earn All-NSIC honors and captured low team honors in five of the 13 events in which they competed. --bsu-- ![]() |
