7/27/2010 - MEN'S ICE HOCKEY Bemidji State men’s hockey drops Oct. 2 exhibition from 2010-11 schedule

BEMIDJI, Minn. --  Bemidji State University head coach Tom Serratore today announced changes to the 2010-11 men’s ice hockey schedule.

The Beavers have cancelled an exhibition game originally scheduled for Oct. 2 versus the University of Manitoba.  The game was planned contingent upon the completion of the Bemidji Regional Event Center and the Oct. 2 date pushed the limits of the estimated occupancy date.  

The second change involves BSU’s trip to neighboring Grand Forks, N.D. in late February.  The Western Collegiate Hockey Association series versus the University of North Dakota was originally slated for the evenings of Feb. 25-26, but due to the North Dakota State High School Tournament also being hosted by Ralph Engelstad Arena that weekend, the Beavers and Fighting Sioux have pushed the two-game set back a day to Saturday Feb. 26 and Sunday, Feb. 27 and will play at 3:37 p.m. each afternoon.

The Bemidji State men’s hockey team finished the 2009-10 season with a 23-10-4 overall record and won its fifth College Hockey America regular-season title in the last seven years with a 14-3-1 league record. BSU concluded its 2009-10 campaign with an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament’s Midwest Regional, marking the program’s fourth trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2005.

The Beavers open the 2010-11 campaign, their inaugural season at the Bemidji Regional Event Center and as members of the WCHA, October 15-16 when the team hosts North Dakota.
