The Bemidji State softball team will finish the season without having played a game at its home field after it was announced Wednesday that the team’s final two doubleheaders of the season were moved to Crookston, Minn. Beavers’ trip to U-Mary moved to Thursday in St. Cloud

The Bemidji State softball doubleheader scheduled for Wednesday against U-Mary in Bismarck, N.D. has been moved to Thursday at the Husky Dome in St. Cloud, Minn. The first game will be played at 11 a.m. and the second game is slated to begin 1 p.m.

The Bemidji State softball team dropped its final two games of the weekend in Sioux City to Northern State Sunday afternoon, falling by scores of 5-0 and 11-5 Sunday. Both contests counted as home games for BSU.


MSU Moorhead blanks BSU 2-0, 6-0

The Bemidji State softball team dropped a pair of shutout decisions to MSU Moorhead Saturday afternoon at the Morningside Little League Complex in Sioux City Iowa. The Dragons won the first game 2-0 and completed the sweep with a 6-0 victory in the second game.

The Bemidji State softball team will pack its bags for more home games this weekend as the team will journey south to the Morningside Little League Complex in Sioux City, Iowa for the second time in as many weeks for a pair of doubleheaders. The Bemidji State softball team has moved its home games against Minnesota State Moorhead and Northern State, originally scheduled at BSU, to the Morningside Little League Complex in Sioux City, Iowa. Beavers swept in doubleheader versus St. Cloud State

The Bemidji State softball team rallied to end a 12-game losing streak against Southwest Minnesota State at the Morningside Little League Complex in Sioux City, Iowa Monday morning before dropping the second game of an NSIC doubleheader. The Beavers won 5-4 in the first game before falling 8-6 in the second game.


BSU drops two close decisions to Sioux Falls

The Bemidji State softball team dropped a pair of tight games to the University of Sioux Falls at the Morningside Little League Complex in Sioux City, Iowa Sunday afternoon. The Cougars won 2-1 in nine innings before BSU erased a five-run deficit before falling 6-5 in the second game.


Beavers’ weekend NSIC games rescheduled

The Bemidji State softball has had its games for this weekend rescheduled. The Beavers’ doubleheaders Saturday at Sioux Falls and Sunday at Southwest Minnesota State have been moved to Sunday and Monday, respectively. All four games will be played at the Morningside Little League Complex in Sioux City, Iowa.


Beavers blanked twice by Minnesota Duluth

The Bemidji State softball team was swept Thursday afternoon against the NSIC's second place team, the Minnesota Duluth. The Bulldogs won the first game by a 12-0 score and shutout the Beavers again in the second game, 7-0 to complete a sweep of the teams' regular-season series.

The Bemidji State softball team finished the weekend with a pair of losses to Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D. Sunday. The Vikings won the first game 7-2 and erupted offensively late in the second game for a 14-2 victory. Both games were home games for Bemidji State, despite having been played in South Dakota as the games were originally supposed to be played at BSU.


First-place Wayne State slips past Beavers

Due to field conditions in Bemidji, the Bemidji State softball team traveled to Wayne State play its first two official home games of the season Saturday. BSU made it close, but came up short against the first-place Wildcats, falling 3-2 in nine innings before dropping a 2-0 decision in the second game.


Beaver softball holds silent auction

U-Mary is 19-16 (10-10 NSIC) on the season. BSU softball signs Dickinson and Osterman for 2013 season

The Bemidji State University softball team announced the signing of two players to Rick Supinski’s inaugural class as the head of the Beaver softball program. Brittany Dickinson (P/IF, Superior, Colo.) and Mikayla Osterman (C, Hereford, Ariz.) both signed National Letters of Intent to play for Bemidji State during the regular signing period.


Beavers suffer doubleheader loss to St. Cloud State

The Bemidji State University softball team dropped two to St. Cloud State University Sunday at BSU Softball Field. St. Cloud State’s Kelly Franks threw a no hitter in game one to lead the Huskies to a 4-0 win. In game two, St. Cloud State used a seven-run fifth inning to come away with a 13-7 victory over the Beavers in game two. Bemidji State fell to 10-29 (3-17 NSIC). St. Cloud State improved to 20-26 (6-14 NSIC). The two teams were able to get both games in despite the Bemidji area being plagued with rain for most of the day Sunday. The two games Sunday end BSU’s home dates and served as the final home affairs for BSU’s four seniors.


Hitting barrage ignites Beaver split with Golden Bears

The Bemidji State University softball team used 11 hits and strong performance from Courtney Anderson (Sr., RHP, Virginia, Minn.) in the circle to come away with 7-1 win in game one against Concordia University, St. Paul Saturday at BSU Softball Field. The Beavers stayed close for most of game two before falling late, 5-1, to the Golden Bears. The win is the first for BSU over Concordia-St Paul since 2009. The Beavers’ game one hitting outburst was led by three hits apiece from senior Megan Beard (IF, Eveleth, Minn.) and freshman Summer Monsrud (OF, Bemidji, Minn.) Beard was one of four players honored in BSU’s “Senior Day” ceremonies in between games along with Anderson, Kayla Babinski (IF, Devils Lake, N.D.) and Courtney Loegering (OF, Blaine, Minn.).


Beavers host Golden Bears and Huskies in final home games of 2012

The Bemidji State University softball team will host Concordia University, St. Paul and St. Cloud State University this weekend at BSU Softball Field. The Bemidji State University softball team fell in a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) games against Northern State University Wednesday at the Mocassin Creek Softball Complex in Aberdeen, S.D. The Beavers lost 9-1 in five innings in game one and fell 5-0 in game two to the Wolves. BSU falls to 9-26 (2-14 NSIC). Northern State improves to 18-20 (9-7 NSIC) with the doubleheader victory.

The Beavers come into the weekend with a 9-24 (2-12 NSIC) mark. Northern State has a 16-20 (7-7 NSIC) record.


Anderson's two-hit shutout and Beard's bat guide BSU to split with UMD

The Bemidji State University softball team used a two-hit shutout from Courtney Anderson (Sr., RHP, Virginia, Minn.) and a clutch two-out base hit from Megan Beard (Sr., IF, Eveleth, Minn.) to drive in the game-winning run to defeat University of Minnesota Duluth 1-0 in game one of a doubleheader. The UMD bats were too much for the Beavers in game two as the Bulldogs picked up a 10-0 victory. The win in game one is the first victory for BSU over a UMD team since defeating Bulldogs 1-0 in 1999. It is the fourth win over UMD in the program’s 31 year history with the other two wins coming in 1991 and 1996. The Beavers are 9-24 (2-12 NSIC) after the split. UMD is now 27-17 (9-5 NSIC).


Bulldogs use three home runs to pick up sweep over BSU

The University of Minnesota Duluth used three home runs to ignite a doubleheader sweep against the Bemidji State University softball team Thursday afternoon at the BSU Softball Field. The Bulldogs picked up a 8-0 win in five innings in game one and an 8-0 victory in six innings in game two. BSU falls to 8-23 on the season. UMD improved to 26-16 with the wins. The games count as nonconference games for both teams.

The Bemidji State University softball team will host University of Minnesota Duluth in a pair of doubleheaders Thurs., April 5 and Fri., April 6 at the BSU Softball Field. Thursday’s games will serve as nonconference games and will start at 2 and 4 p.m. and Friday’s contests will commence at 12 and 2 p.m. and will count as Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference games. Thursday’s doubleheader was moved up from Saturday due to expected inclimate weather in Bemidji on Saturday. Friday’s games were moved up from an original start of 1 and 3 p.m. for the same reason.


Six-run outburst leads BSU softball to split with MSU Moorhead

Cassie MacArthur’s (Fr., RHP/1B, Cottage Grove, Minn.) double down the left field line cleared the bases to score three runners as the Bemidji State University softball team had a six-run outburst in the inning to help deliver a 6-1 victory over Minnesota State University, Moorhead in the first game of the doubleheader Tues., April 3 in Bemidji. In game two of the doubleheader, both teams played scoreless softball for 11 innings until the Dragons struck for one run in the top of the 12th to pick up a 1-0 extra-inning win over the Beavers. BSU is now 8-21 on the year and improves to 1-11 in the NSIC after ending a winless streak in conference play with the 6-1 victory.

The Bemidji State University softball team went into extra innings in both games of Wednesday’s conference doubleheader against University of Minnesota, Crookston but came up short in both as the Golden Eagles were able to get runs in the top of the eighth inning in both games. We caught up with Bemidji State freshman outfielder Summer Monsrud this week as the softball team prepares to open its Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference slate this weekend at the BSU softball field against Southwest Minnesota State University and No. 13 Minnesota State University, Mankato. Monsrud, a product of Bemidji High School, is the daughter of Eric Monsrud, a former BSU men's hockey and baseball player who is the current color analyst for the Beaver men's hockey games on Lakeland Public Television. The younger Monsrud has gotten off to a strong start this season from the lead-off position as she is hitting .349 in 15 games this seaosn. She currently leads the team with eight runs scored and four stolen bases.

The Bemidji State University softball lost Sunday’s doubleheader to Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference foe Upper Iowa University with scores of 4-1 and 8-3 at the Eischeid Complex in Fayette, Iowa.


BSU loses twin bill to Winona State

On the first day of a five-day road trip, the Bemidji State University softball team dropped a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader to Winona State on Saturday afternoon with scores of 10-2 and 8-2. On the day, BSU scored four runs on 12 hits while committing six errors.


Beavers drop doubleheader to the University of Mary

The Bemidji State University softball team lost a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader to the University of Mary with scores of 3-1 and 4-2 on Wednesday afternoon.


BSU splits twin bill to Huskies

The Bemidji State University softball team played a total of 18 innings Thursday afternoon in a doubleheader against St. Cloud State that saw the Huskies take the first game 5-2, in 11 innings, with the Beavers rallying in the nightcap 2-0 to force the split. With the shutout win the Beavers pick up their first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference win of the season.


Beavers fall to Golden Bears in NSIC opener

The Bemidji State softball team fell 2-0 and 10-0 in six innings in its Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opener to Concordia University, St. Paul at the BSU Softball Field Wednesday.

BSU Softball reschedules

Opting to play in more favorable weather, the BSU Softball team has rescheduled this Friday’s conference doubleheader against Concordia University-St. Paul and Saturday’s conference doubleheader against St. Cloud State to Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. The doubleheaders are scheduled to begin at noon both days.


Softball splits doubleheader home opener to Crookston

A five-run fifth inning by the Bemidji State University softball team led the Beavers past Minnesota, Crookston 6-1 in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles picked up a 5-0 win in the second game forcing a split for the Beavers’ home opening day.


Softball adds home doubleheader

The Bemidji State University softball team added two nonconference doubleheaders against the University of Minnesota, Crookston for the 2010 season. The first doubleheader will be played this Saturday, March 27, at the BSU Softball Field. The second doubleheader will be played on Wednesday March 31 in Crookston. Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled to begin at noon, while the wednesday twin bill is slated to start at 3 p.m.

BSU softball picked 12th in NSIC preseason poll

The Bemidji State softball team was picked to finish 12th in the 2010 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll, receiving 49 points. Last season the Beavers finished with a record of 8-28 (3-21 NSIC) finishing 13th in the conference.
