In the first game the Beavers had three runs on six hits and three errors. Courtney Anderson (So., RHP, Virginia, Minn.) led the Beavers defensively, throwing six strikeouts and only allowing two earned-runs in the seven innings. In the batter’s box, Jamie Lund (Jr. P/UT, Grantsburg, Wis.) went 2-4 (.500) in the game and picked up one run. The Bulldogs jumped on the board first in the game scoring two runs in the top of the fourth. However, the Beavers responded right back scoring two of their own to tie the game. Kayla Babinski (Fr., IF, Devils Lake, N.D.) doubled to left center, which scored Stephanie Rossman (Fr., C, Menomonee Falls, Wis.). Later in the inning with the bases loaded, Erin Emanuel (Fr., IF, Esko, Minn.) was walked and ended up scoring Lund. Despite their best efforts, however, the Beavers would narrowly miss out on picking up their third conference win of the season as the Bulldogs squeaked-out a 4-3 victory. In the second game of day, UMD was led by its pitching corps as Bulldog pitcher Heather Stemper nearly threw a perfect game. The Beavers failed to get any hits in the game and lost by a margin of 9-0 in six innings. The Bulldogs gave up no hits, no walks, but committed one error. The Bemidji State softball team rounds out the regular season this Wednesday as they head over to take on Wisconsin-Superior in a doubleheader.
