McDougall Wins NSIC Co-Offensive Player of the Week;
BEMIDJI, MINN. -- In helping Bemidji State (11-9, 3-2 NSIC) to a weekend sweep of league opponents MSU-Moorhead and Northern State, senior Nicole McDougall (Hitterdal, Minn.) has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 29th. Minnesota-Crookston’s Katie Carlson shared the honor with McDougall.

McDougall hit for .435 (13-3-23), her fourth time of +.400 this season, in the 3-1 win over the Wolves on Friday. She also added four service aces and tied for a game-high with 5 blocks. In the 3-1 win vs. MSU-Moorhead on Friday, McDougall hit .304 (10-3-23), recording 10 kills, which was her sixth double-digit kill effort of the season. She added six digs and a game-high seven blocks. For the week (including Tuesday’s match at St. Cloud State), McDougall hit .293 (27-10-58), totaled 27 kills, six service aces, 12 digs and 14 blocks.

In 2003, McDougall is first on the team in total blocks (58) and second in blocks/game (1.02) and hitting percentage (.235). Against Dakota Wesleyan (8/30), McDougall hit .571 (10 kills-2 errors-14 total attempts), which is the best individual mark in 2003. She has led the club 12 times in blocks, including the last five matches. Currently, McDougall is 10th in total blocks (242) and 11th in block assists (180) on the BSU career records.

This is McDougall’s second such honor as she notched one Oct. 15, 2001.

BSU will host its final non-conference opponent of the season in North Dakota tomorrow night. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. in the BSU Gymnasium.

The last Beaver to win such an award was senior Lisa Smith (Oct. 21, 2002).
