BEMIDJI, Minn. - Bemidji State setter Kristin Smith (Rockford, Ill.) has been named to the 2004 College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District V Team, CoSIDA today announced. The selection marks the second first team award in BSU volleyball history.

Smith, a senior, holds a 4.0 grade-point average in business administration and is a six-time member of the Bemidji State Dean’s List. The award marks the third consecutive season in which she has been honored by CoSIDA for her academic success. In 2003 she earned Verizon/CoSIDA First-Team All-District V College Division honors while she received All-District Third Team honors in 2002. She is also a three time NSIC Academic All-Conference pick.

Leading BSU in assists during each of the last three seasons, Smith is averaging 9.85 assists per game this season. She is also averaging 0.63 kills, 2.78 digs, 0.39 blocks and 0.26 services aces per game in 2004 and was named to the NSIC All-Honorable Mention Team for the second straight season earlier this week.

She is currently fourth all-time at BSU with 3,174 career assists. She also holds the ally-scoring record for single-match assists with 74.

Smith is only two NSIC players to be honored on either the first, second or third team. Winona State senior Sara Goldstrand also got a first team nod.
