Bemidji State and Northwest Technical College collaborate on renovation

Bemidji State University and Northwest Technical College have combined forces for a collaborative renovation project. Students in the NTC construction program are gaining practical experience and course credit for designing and building 123 wood lockers in a major redesign of the BSU football and volleyball programs' locker room.


Tomcikova and Ellisor named Bemidji State Student-Athletes of the Year

Bemidji State University’s Zuzana Tomcikova (Sr., Bratislava, Slovakia) and James Ellisor (Sr., Glendale, Ariz.) were named as the 2011-12 Student-Athletes of the Year and Rachel Craig (Fr., MB, Wadena, Minn.) and Dermaine Crockrell (Jr., G, Mesa, Ariz.) earned recognition as 2011-12 Newcomers of the Year Thursday at Sanford Center as the University’s honored players and coaches as its annual Student-Athlete Appreciation Banquet.


Winter volleyball clinic canceled due to weather

A Winter Volleyball Clinic scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 26 has been canceled due to the severe weather in the Bemidji area. The passing/defense clinic will be rescheduled for a later date. New information regarding the clinic will be posted when decisions are made.


Bemidji State lands 24 on 2011 Fall Academic All-NSIC Team

Bemidji State University had 24 student-athletes selected to the 2011 Fall Academic All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Team, announced by the league office today.


Beavers to host Winter Volleyball Clinics

The Bemidji State University volleyball program will host five Winter Volleyball Clinics for grades 6-12 from Jan. 8, 2012 to March 11, 2012. All clinics will be held at the BSU Gymnasium from 2-4 p.m. The cost of the camps is $35 for the first clinic attended and $5 for each clinic thereafter.


Volleyball program signs Courtney Fox during early signing period

The Bemidji State Univeristy volleyball team announced the addition of Courtney Fox (DS, Hutchinson, Minn.) to a National Letter of Intent in the early signing period. Fox will begin play at Bemidji State in the fall of 2012. She is the first signee for this year’s recruiting class. Head coach Wayne Chadwick brought in five signees in his first full recruiting class last season.


Bemidji State connections run deep for senior setter

For senior setter Jessi-Beth McCannell the decision where to pursue her dream of playing college volleyball was easy. Although a native of Brandon, Manitoba, Bemidji has always been a special place for Jessi-Beth. It was the place her mom grew up. It was home to the University where her dad, Daryle, played collegiate hockey and baseball in the 1970s and where her sister was a setter for the volleyball team.

The Beavers fall to 6-21 (3-16 NSIC) with the loss. Minnesota State improves their mark to 19-8 (12-7 NSIC).

Beavers fall to Upper Iowa 3-0

The Bemidji State University volleyball team fell 3-0 (25-11, 25-14, 25-18) to Upper Iowa University Saturday at Dorman Gymnasium in Fayette, Iowa. The loss marks the ninth straight for a young BSU team. Six of those nine losses came to opponents ranked in the top 15 nationally. The Beavers now stand at 4-16 (1-11 NSIC). Hacker designs unique career path off the court

Ever since her grandparents purchased design software for her computer when she was in third grade, senior volleyball player Kimberly Hacker has known the career path she wanted to follow. In addition to pursuing volleyball, Hacker has been chasing a lifelong dream of being an exhibit designer.

Bemidji State picked 12th in NSIC Preseason Volleyball Coaches' Poll

Bemidji State University was picked 12th in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Volleyball Coaches’ Poll for the second-consecutive season. The Beavers finished the 2010 season with a 12-16 (6-14 NSIC) mark which placed them in a tie for 10th place in the final conference standings. In his second year at the helm of the BSU program, Wayne Chadwick will be tasked with replacing seven players from the 2010 squad including six seniors, all of whom played a vital role in the Beaver rotation in Chadwick’s first season.

Bemidji State summer camps to go on as scheduled

Thingvold joins 2011 volleyball signing class

Kristen Thingvold (5-10, OH, Crystal, Minn.) signed a National Letter of Intent to become the fifth member of the 2011 Bemidji State University volleyball signing class. Beavers to host volleyball camps in July

The Bemidji State University volleyball program will host volleyball camps for middle school and high school aged children in July at BSU Gymnasium.


Volleyball announces 2011 schedule

Bemidji State University volleyball coach Wayne Chadwick announced the program’s 2011 schedule Thursday afternoon. The fall slate features nine matches against teams that finished the 2010 season ranked in the top 20 nationally. BSU will also take the court against two more regional participants including California University (Pa.), a team that advanced to the Atlantic Regional Final.

Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Commissioner Butch Raymond today announced that Bemidji State University’s Kristi Buerkle (Sr., Stacy, Minn.), Alysha Domiano (Sr., Dayton, Minn.), Colleen McKay (Sr., Barnum, Minn.), Jenny Stromberg (Sr., Elk River, Minn.) and Lindsey Weyer (Sr., Loyal, Wis.) have been selected as recipients of the second annual NSIC Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction Award.
