Bemidji State falls to Wayne State in season finale, 3-0

WAYNE, Neb. (Rice Auditorium) — The Bemidji State University volleyball team dropped its season finale today at the hands of the Wayne State College Wildcats, 3-0. With the loss, the Beavers close out 2014 with a record of 5-23 overall and 3-17 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play.

Set 1: Wayne State hit .500 on 30 attempts to take the first set from the Beavers, 25-16. BSU hit .321, but could not slow down the Wildcats’ offense. The two teams were tied as late as 13-13 in the stanza, but a 7-0 run by the Wildcats proved to be the difference.

Set 2: Much like the first set, the two teams both attacked with high efficiency. BSU hit at a .314 clip while Wayne State dropped down to .395. WSC separated itself with a 10-1 run, changing the score from 6-6 to 16-7 and the nine-point deficit was too much for the Beavers to overcome, 25-16.

Set 3: After falling behind early in the set, 4-1, the Beavers eventually cut the deficit to just two at 13-11, however, the Wildcats scored 10 of the next 12 points to seal the set and the match, 25-16. Alyssa Frauendorfer was WSC’s main weapon in the third with five kills.
