BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University volleyball team fell to No. 16 Augustana University (S.D.), 3-0 (25-10, 25-21, 25-15), Saturday afternoon in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action.
Bemidji State freshman Becky Schroeder led the Beavers (3-24, 0-18 NSIC) with eight of the team’s 20 kills in the match while also hitting at a .167 efficiency, also leading the team.
The Beavers were out-hit in the match 42 kills to 20 by the Vikings (20-8, 11-7 NSIC) while Augustana’s Lauren Waite led the match with 10 kills.
Bemidji State struggled hitting in the match totaling 22 errors on the attack and hit just -.022 efficiency on the afternoon. Augustana hit .248 in 101 total attacks and also picked up 45 digs as a team, led by Tahlyr Banks with 12.
Julie Touchett, Sami Leach and Jessica Reega each added three kills while Leach and sophomore Shelby Haney coordinated the attacked totaling eight and seven assists, respectively. The Beavers’ defense was led by Emma Hallmann who recorded 11 digs while Leach added eight. Touchett led the team with three blocks in the match, and the Beavers tallied six as a team.
The Beavers conclude their 2017 season next weekend by traveling to University of Sioux Falls and No. 1 Southwest Minnesota State University for the final matches of the season.
