SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Bemidji State University women’s volleyball team fell to No. 17 Augustana University (S.D.) Friday night, 3-0 (25-22, 25-11, 25-16), in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action.
With the loss the Beavers fall to 3-11 on the season and remain winless in conference play with an 0-6 record. The 17th-ranked Vikings improve to 11-5 and 2-4 in NSIC play.
Bemidji State struggled on the attack during the match and was out-hit 44 kills to 23 and were led by junior Sami Leach who tallied six kills. BSU hit .104 as a team in the match while the Vikings hit .261en route to the three-set sweep.
Junior Maddie Filipiak added five kills of her own while freshman Anna Averkamp tallied four. Sophomore Julie Touchett tallied three kills and led the team with three blocks. Freshman Becka Cronin led the Beavers’ defense with 12 digs while sophomore Emma Hallmann and Leach each tallied eight.
The Beavers will look to rebound tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Wayne, Neb., to face No. 22 Wayne State College (Neb.). The Beavers and Wildcats are scheduled to face-off at 1 p.m.
