BURNSVILLE, Minn. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association has announced Bemidji State University is among its Team Academic Award winners for the 2018-19 season. BSU, which completed the 2018-19 academic year with a 3.33 team grade point average, was one of 142 NCAA Division II programs across the country cited for the honor.
The occasion marked just the second time the Beavers have earned the award since the AVCA began recognizing team academic success in 1992-93.
To be eligible to receive the AVCA Team Academic Award, teams must maintain a 3.30 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Teams with the top 27 GPAs in each division received the special recognition as an honor roll team.
In addition to BSU, 13 other Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference-member teams earned the award.
In all, a record 1,126 teams from NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA, two-year college, NCCAA, collegiate men, high school girls, high school boys and collegiate beach volleyball were recognized for academic achievement in 2018-19.
