Started all 28 matches for Bemidji State playing in 102 sets…Led the team in digs recording 436 digs by the end of the season...Posted a career-high of 31 digs against UW Parkside Sept. 6, 2014, and also a career-high of 10 assists against Minnesota Crookston Oct. 28, 2014...Second on the team in assists (89) and third on the team in service aces (22).
Named the team’s defensive player of the year…Served as the primary libero for the Beavers…Racked up 407 digs…Posted a career-high 30-dig performance against Quincy University Sept. 13, 2013, which put her in the AVCA 30-dig club…Posted at least 20 digs in nine matches…Finished second on team in assists (50) and service aces (22).
Played in 24 matches for the Beavers in 2012… Totaled 100 digs on the season that placed her fifth on the team… Added 12 assists and four aces during the season… Had eight games where she tallied five or more assists with eight being her highest total three different times.
At Jefferson High School: As captain, led team in kills (139) and aces (30) and added 148 digs and 16 blocks to earn Team MVP honors…Was twice named to the All-Rock Valley Conference First Team and was a second-team honoree as a sophomore…Played club volleyball for the Milwaukee Sting and contributed to Junior Volleyball Association World Challenge runner-up and National Junior Classic championship runs…Made the 2011 Badger Region High Performance team and helped the squad place fourth at the National HP Championships…Played four years of varsity softball in addition to three years of varsity volleyball for the Eagles and was a high honor student.
Personal: Kayla Kathleen DeJong is the daughter of Brian and Vickie DeJong and was born on July 15, 1994 in Madison, Wis…Her Uncle, Dan Marx, played baseball at Wisconsin-Oshkosh…Majoring in design technology at BSU…Hobbies include vacations, shopping, baking, and swimming/boating.
