Bagaason named head women’s golf and assistant women’s basketball coach

Bemidji State University Director of Athletics Dr. Rick Goeb, today announced the hiring of Mark Bagaason as the Beavers’ new head women’s golf and assistant women’s basketball coach.


Curfman announces 2011-12 slate

Bemidji State head women’s basketball coach Mike Curfman has announced the team’s 2011-12 schedule. The campaign includes an exhibition with the University of Minnesota, a nonconference battle with University of North Dakota, a trip to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and a four-game road trip to kick-off the 22-game Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference schedule.


Bemidji State summer camps to go on as scheduled

Bemidji State University athletic camps scheduled for the month of July will go on as planned as BSU remains open despite the Minnesota state government shutdown effective July 1, 2011. Both the volleyball and women’s basketball camp scheduled for this month will remain intact as posted previously.


Women's Basketball adds McKee to 2011-12 signing class

The Bemidji State University women’s basketball program has announced the signing of Allison McKee (G, New Brighton, Minn.) to a National Letter of Intent. McKee joins Jessi Corrick (G, Grand Rapids, Minn.), Paige Tompkins (F/C, Milnor, N.D.) and Erica Trabing (G, Prior Lake, Minn.) as members of its 2011-12 signing class.


Women's Basketball adds two to 2011-12 signing class

The Bemidji State University women’s basketball program announced the addition of two players to its 2011-12 signing class Thursday morning. Jessi Corrick (G, Grand Rapids, Minn.) and Erica Trabing (G, Prior Lake, Minn.) signed National Letter of Intents to play their basketball for Mike Curfman at BSU. The pair joins Paige Tompkins (F/C, Milnor, N.D.) who signed to play with the Beavers during the early recruiting period.

The Bemidji State women's basketball program has announced it will host a summer high school girls basketball camp July 24-27 for grades 7-12.


Men No. 4, women No. 21 nationally in free throw shooting

All season long the Bemidji State men’s basketball team has been able to hang its hat on its ability to be effective from the charity stripe. In the final regular season NCAA National Statistics Summary for Division II (games thru Feb. 27) the Beavers finished No. 4 with a 78.9 free throw percentage. The women’s team has been a top 25 free throw shooting team all season long and finished No. 21.

The Bemidji State men’s basketball team returned to No. 2 nationally in free throw percentage according to the latest NCAA National Statistics Summary for Division II (games thru Feb. 20) after being slated No. 3 last week. The Beavers shot 80.0 percent (28-of-35) from the charity stripe in games against Southwest Minnesota State University and No. 14 Minnesota State University, Mankato. The BSU women’s basketball team also made a move to No. 21 in the free throw rankings, increasing three spots.


Last second jumper sinks BSU 75-73

Bemidji State University's Shannon Thompson came up with a clutch shot for the second night in a row on Saturday as she stepped back to hit a three pointer with eight seconds remaining to tie the game 73-73. However, an Andrea Walsh jumper in the lane with just one second left on the clock sent Minnesota State University, Mankato over Bemidji State 75-73 on Saturday evening in Bemidji, Minn.


Crucial guard play ends 10-game losing streak

Shannon Thompson (So., G, Rosemount, Minn.) got the ball off a Samantha Baldwin (Jr., G, St. Thomas, N.D.) steal and ran the length of the court where she converted a layup and was fouled. Thompson hit the free throw to put BSU ahead 64-62 with 30 seconds remaining and the Beavers wouldn’t look back to send Bemidji State University to a 68-65 victory over Southwest Minnesota State University.

BEMIDJI, Minn. - Northern State University’s inside presence led by the imposing 6-6 Krista Rabenberg proved difficult for the Bemidji State University women’s basketball team as they fell 82-64 on Saturday evening at BSU Gymnasium. The Wolves dominated the Beavers inside controlling the boards 37-24. Northern State outshot the Beavers 57.1 to 36.7 percent in the game.


U-Mary upends Beavers 69-52

Strong outside shooting and offensive rebounds from the University of Mary spelled trouble for the Bemidji State University women’s basketball as they fell 69-52 on Friday night at BSU Gymnasium. The Beavers had a streak of strong outside shots in the first half but were unable to carry over their shooting to the second half as they struggled to hit shots in the final period.

The Bemidji State University women's basketball team outshot their opponents for the second game in a row but were again unable to convert down the stretch as they fell 57-54. BSU had a one-point lead with 29 seconds remaining but a jumper by Abby Kenealy gave SMSU the 55-54 lead with 19 seconds left on the clock and the Mustangs never looked back.

MANKATO, Minn. - The Bemidji State University women’s basketball team fell just short on Friday night as they fell 77-73 on the road against Minnesota State University, Mankato at the Taylor Center in Mankato, Minn. The Beavers shot 53 percent from the field and 46 percent from beyond the arc but were unable to overcome the Mavericks down the stretch as MSU outscored BSU 8-3 in the final minutes.

For the second consecutive game the Bemidji State Beavers struggled to maintain possession of the ball. BSU was forced into 25 turnovers on Sunday against No. 8 Wayne State College.
