Lee named Second Team All-NSIC

Sophomore guard Morgan Lee (Hayward, Minn.) was named Second Team All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Thursday by the league office. The conference award is the first in Lee’s career and stands as the first Bemidji State University women’s basketball player to be named to the league’s top two teams since Amy Lawson earned first team honors following the 2007-08 season.

In its last game of the season the Bemidji State University women’s basketball fell 73-59 against Winona State University Saturday in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference contest played at the BSU Gymnasium. Nine different Mavericks hit shots from beyond the arc in the game, as MSU went 13-for-27 (48.1%).

Get to Know: Sophomore Center Kate Warmack

Sophomore Kate Warmack has emerged as a top player for the Bemidji State women’s basketball team this season after averaging just 3.0 points and 3.2 rebounds in 12.8 minutes per game last season. Her 12.8 points and 6.6 rebounds in 24.3 minutes per game ranks among the top in the NSIC and is a major factor in the team’s success this season. So we went beyond the numbers and took some time to get to know Kate Warmack.

Newman ended the night with 30 points on 11-of-18 shooting. The Beavers fall to 5-7 (3-4 NSIC) with the loss, marking the fourth-straight game BSU has failed to find the win column. Bemidji State University head women’s basketball coach Mike Curfman announced the signing of Emily Reichert (G, Rogers, Minn.) and Rachel Valley (F, Albertville, Minn.) to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period to start playing for the Beavers during the 2012-13 season. The Bemidji State women's basketball got its 2011-12 season underway Saturday with ts first official practice. The Beavers travel to Jamestown College Oct. 27 for a 7 p.m. exhibition to open the season.


Women's basketball gets underway Oct. 15

The National Basketball Association may be in a lockout, but collegiate basketball at Bemidji State University is gearing-up to begin the 2011-12 season. Both the men's and women's basketball teams get underway Oct. 15 with its first official practices of the season.


Bagaason named head women’s golf and assistant women’s basketball coach

Bemidji State University Director of Athletics Dr. Rick Goeb, today announced the hiring of Mark Bagaason as the Beavers’ new head women’s golf and assistant women’s basketball coach.


NSIC announces changes for 2012-13

The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference annual meetings concluded Thursday, July 14 in St. Cloud, Minn. with league and institution administrators deciding on some significant issues for the 2012-13 school year. With the additions of University of Sioux Falls and Minot State University to the NSIC for the 2012-13 season, the league will move to a 16-team conference, forcing the administrators to make some changes in regards to divisions and postseason play.

Curfman announces 2011-12 slate

Bemidji State head women’s basketball coach Mike Curfman has announced the team’s 2011-12 schedule. The campaign includes an exhibition with the University of Minnesota, a nonconference battle with University of North Dakota, a trip to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and a four-game road trip to kick-off the 22-game Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference schedule.


Women's Basketball adds McKee to 2011-12 signing class

The Bemidji State University women’s basketball program has announced the signing of Allison McKee (G, New Brighton, Minn.) to a National Letter of Intent. McKee joins Jessi Corrick (G, Grand Rapids, Minn.), Paige Tompkins (F/C, Milnor, N.D.) and Erica Trabing (G, Prior Lake, Minn.) as members of its 2011-12 signing class.


Women's Basketball adds two to 2011-12 signing class

The Bemidji State University women’s basketball program announced the addition of two players to its 2011-12 signing class Thursday morning. Jessi Corrick (G, Grand Rapids, Minn.) and Erica Trabing (G, Prior Lake, Minn.) signed National Letter of Intents to play their basketball for Mike Curfman at BSU. The pair joins Paige Tompkins (F/C, Milnor, N.D.) who signed to play with the Beavers during the early recruiting period.


McKay earns NSIC Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction award

Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Commissioner Butch Raymond today announced that Bemidji State University’s Kristi Buerkle (Sr., Stacy, Minn.), Alysha Domiano (Sr., Dayton, Minn.), Colleen McKay (Sr., Barnum, Minn.), Jenny Stromberg (Sr., Elk River, Minn.) and Lindsey Weyer (Sr., Loyal, Wis.) have been selected as recipients of the second annual NSIC Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction Award.


BSU to host summer girls basketball camp

The Bemidji State women's basketball program has announced it will host a summer high school girls basketball camp July 24-27 for grades 7-12.
