The Game
The Bemidji State women’s basketball team was idle last weekend and will have fresh legs for the Nov. 20 battle at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa after an 11-day gap between contests. The Beavers will take to the court against the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. The Beavers are 3-0 entering the contest against Mount Mercy, which closes the nonconference season for BSU.

The last action for the Beavers came Nov. 9 when it hosted Mayville State University. BSU defeated the Comets 85-77 behind newcomer Lanae Rash’s first double-double in the green and while, as she posted 18 points and 10 rebounds. Juniors Morgan Lee and Jessie Althoff each tallied 14 points, while Althoff added six rebounds and a steal and Lee posted five rebounds, two assists and a steal. BSU shot 42.2 percent overall and turned the Comets over 28 times. Rash guides the team in points (52, 17.3 ppg), rebounds (22, 7.3 rpg) and 10 steals.

The Mustangs: The Mustangs are 2-5 overall this season. Mount Mercy snapped a three-game losing streak Nov. 17 with an 81-53 home victory against Graceland (Iowa). Brooke Quigley scored 20 points in the win and leads the team in scoring with 16.8 points per game. MMU is 1-3 at home this season. Aaron Jennings is in his fifth season as the Mount Mercy head coach and owns a 92-48 record at MMU.

All-time Series vs Mount Mercy: The Beavers and Mustangs have met just once before Tuesday’s showdown, with Bemidji State winning 73-69 Dec. 16, 1994 in Cedar Rapids.
