Sophomore guard Morgan Lee (Hayward, Minn.) was named Second Team All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Thursday by the league office. The conference award is the first in Lee’s career and stands as the first Bemidji State University women’s basketball player to be named to the league’s top two teams since Amy Lawson earned first team honors following the 2007-08 season.

The Beavers won 77-72 with help from sophomore Katie Warmack (C, East Grand Forks, Minn.) who scored 20 points and added a career-high 13 rebounds for her fourth-career double-double.

The Bemidji State University women’s basketball team fell 81-50 at Minnesota State University, Mankato Saturday in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference regular season road finale. With the loss the Beavers have fallen in five straight and move to 8-17 overall and 6-14 in NSIC play. Nine different Mavericks hit shots from beyond the arc in the game, as MSU went 13-for-27 (48.1%).

For the third consecutive game the Bemidji State University women’s basketball team left a first half lead on the table, as it fell 72-57 to Southwest Minnesota State University in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference contest at the R/A Facility in Marshall, Minn. The loss was the fourth straight for the Beavers who move to 8-16 overall and 6-13 in NSIC play.

She came to Bemidji State and played point guard during her freshman season and this year she has been given the task of guarding the opponent’s post player from time to time. Sophomore Kate Warmack has emerged as a top player for the Bemidji State women’s basketball team this season after averaging just 3.0 points and 3.2 rebounds in 12.8 minutes per game last season. Her 12.8 points and 6.6 rebounds in 24.3 minutes per game ranks among the top in the NSIC and is a major factor in the team’s success this season. So we went beyond the numbers and took some time to get to know Kate Warmack.

The Beavers (2-2) shot just 29.4 percent from the field and hurt itself by committing 20 turnovers.

The Bemidji State University women’s basketball team hosts Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference-foe Winona State University in its final home game of the 2009-10 season Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. in the BSU Gymnasium. The Beavers will be hosting a WBCA Pink Zone event and it will serve as Senior Day for Kim Rosecrans.
