Sophomore guard Morgan Lee (Hayward, Minn.) was named Second Team All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Thursday by the league office. The conference award is the first in Lee’s career and stands as the first Bemidji State University women’s basketball player to be named to the league’s top two teams since Amy Lawson earned first team honors following the 2007-08 season.

In its last game of the season the Bemidji State University women’s basketball fell 73-59 against Winona State University Saturday in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference contest played at the BSU Gymnasium. Freshman Jessi Corrick (G, Grand Rapids, Minn.) led the team with 13 total points for BSU.

The Bemidji State University women’s basketball team recorded a five point victory against Upper Iowa University Friday in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference contest. The Beavers won 77-72 with help from sophomore Katie Warmack (C, East Grand Forks, Minn.) who scored 20 points and added a career-high 13 rebounds for her fourth-career double-double.

The Bemidji State University women’s basketball team fell 81-50 at Minnesota State University, Mankato Saturday in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference regular season road finale. With the loss the Beavers have fallen in five straight and move to 8-17 overall and 6-14 in NSIC play. Nine different Mavericks hit shots from beyond the arc in the game, as MSU went 13-for-27 (48.1%).

For the third consecutive game the Bemidji State University women’s basketball team left a first half lead on the table, as it fell 72-57 to Southwest Minnesota State University in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference contest at the R/A Facility in Marshall, Minn. The loss was the fourth straight for the Beavers who move to 8-16 overall and 6-13 in NSIC play.

The BSU women’s basketball team had five players score in double-figures in the program’s first-ever triple overtime contest.

She came to Bemidji State and played point guard during her freshman season and this year she has been given the task of guarding the opponent’s post player from time to time. Sophomore Kate Warmack has emerged as a top player for the Bemidji State women’s basketball team this season after averaging just 3.0 points and 3.2 rebounds in 12.8 minutes per game last season. Her 12.8 points and 6.6 rebounds in 24.3 minutes per game ranks among the top in the NSIC and is a major factor in the team’s success this season. So we went beyond the numbers and took some time to get to know Kate Warmack.

The Beavers got a complete team performance, limiting their turnovers and hitting on 11-of-11 free throws in the final five minutes of the game.

The Beavers (2-2) shot just 29.4 percent from the field and hurt itself by committing 20 turnovers.

With the additions of University of Sioux Falls and Minot State University to the NSIC for the 2012-13 season, the league will move to a 16-team conference, forcing the administrators to make some changes in regards to divisions and postseason play.

The Bemidji State University women’s basketball team hosts Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference-foe Winona State University in its final home game of the 2009-10 season Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. in the BSU Gymnasium. The Beavers will be hosting a WBCA Pink Zone event and it will serve as Senior Day for Kim Rosecrans.
