Bemidji State lands 27 on Fall Academic All-NSIC Team

Bemidji State University landed 27 student-athletes on the 2013 Fall Academic All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Team, announced by the league office Friday.

The Bemidji State University cross country team concluded the 2013 season Saturday at the NCAA Central Region Championships. The Beavers finished 30th in the 6,000-meter race held at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls, S.D.

The Bemidji State University cross country team hopes to improve on its 15th place finish at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships Oct. 26 with a strong performance at the NCAA Central Region Championships Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m. The 6,000-meter race is set for the same location as the NSIC meet, Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls, S.D.

The Bemidji State University cross country team was guided by freshman Nikki Szech (Long Prairie, Minn.) Friday at the Jimmie Invitational. The Beavers finished sixth in the 5,000-meter race, hosted by University of Jamestown.


Beavers back in action Friday at Jimmie Invitational

After nearly a month off from competition, the Bemidji State University cross country team is back in action Friday, Oct. 11 at the Jimmie Invitational. The gun for the 5,000-meter race, hosted by University of Jamestown, is set to go off at 4:45 p.m. at the Hillcrest Golf Course in Jamestown, N.D.


Turner posts top 25 finish at Randy Smith Invitational

Sophomore Emily Turner (Bringham Lake, Minn.) finished 25th at the Randy Smith Invitational Friday to lead the Bemidji State University cross country team. The Beavers finished seventh in the race, which took place at Ponderosa Golf Club in Glyndon, Minn.

Coming off a first place finish at the Greenwood Run Friday, the Bemidji State University cross country team heads to the Randy Smith Invitational Sept. 13 at Ponderosa Golf Club in Glyndon, Minn. The event, hosted by Minnesota State University Moorhead, is a 5,000-meter race set for a 5 p.m. start.


Beaver Pride names Turner and Quinn Athletes of the Week

Bemidji State University’s Emily Turner (So., Bringham Lake, Minn.) and Connor Quinn (ILB, 6-1, 223, So-1L, Geneva, Ill.) have been tabbed as the inaugural Beaver Pride Athletes of the Week of 2013-14, after recording outstanding athletic performances during Sept. 2-8.

Sophomore Emily Turner (Bringham Lake, Minn.) didn’t waste any time getting her and the Bemidji State University cross country 2013 season going, as her time of 16:49 paced the field and guided the Beavers to a first place finish at the Greenwood Run Friday.


Bemidji State cross country season preview

With no seniors and only one junior, saying the Bemidji State University cross country team is young would be an understatement. The Beavers, under the direction of 25-year head coach Craig Hougen, are set to begin the 2013 campaign Friday, Sept. 6 when they host the 4,000-meter Greenwood Run at 2:30 p.m.

The Bemidji State University cross country team was tabbed 11th in the 2013 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Women’s Cross Country Preseason Coaches’ Poll, Wednesday in an announcement from the league office. Sophomore Emily Turner (Bringham Lake, Minn.) was named BSU’s Athlete to Watch.
