Dragon Twilight opens Beaver Cross Country season Friday

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- The Bemidji State University cross country program hits the open course for the first time in 2017 with a trip to Moorhead, Minn., Friday, Sept. 8 to take part in the Dragon Twilight. The meet begins at 8:15 p.m. with the 4K run from the Moorhead Soccer Complex.

THE PARTICIPANTS
Beaver Cross Country loses four faces from the 2016 squad but welcomes in six true freshmen to the program this season. Returning to lead the squad is Bemidji State Player to Watch Sarone Paulzine, who set personal records in the 4K and 6K last season. She set her best mark in the 6K run (23:51.2) Nov. 5, 2016 at the NCAA Central Regional in Sioux Falls, S.D. Joining Paulzine at the Dragon Twilight as upperclassmen are senior Madison Kealy and junior Courtney Anderson, who each set personal records in the 4K run last season at the Dragon Twilight.

Sophomore Sharnea Witt will join freshmen Carissa Decko, Ashley Herdering, Brittny Hillstrom, Ashley Kinnard, Ellen Peterson and Kristen Petron as underclassmen at the Dragon Twilight. Witt’s only meet during her freshman campaign came at the Dragon Twilight, where she finished with a time of 16:52.7.

HEAD COACH KEVIN KEAN
Kevin Kean leads the Beaver Cross Country program into competition for his third season after joining Bemidji State in July of 2015. He has helped land three student-athletes on the 2015 and 2016 Fall Academic All-NSIC teams while the program finished 11th in the past two NSIC Championship meets. Under Kean’s watch, four of five returning letter winners set personal records in the 4K run last season.
