BEMIDJI, Minn. -- The Bemidji State University cross country and track and field head coach Kevin Kean has announced the addition of distance runner Jasmine Rascon to the program’s 21018-19 signing class. Rascon will run for both programs after signing a National Letter of Intent to join BSU next fall.

Rascon’s acceptance is contingent upon admission to BSU and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.

Jasmine Rascon, a distance runner from Edgeley, N.D., is a letter winner at Edgeley-Kulm High School. She finished second in the finals of the 2018 North Dakota Southeast Region 800-meter dash and was a state qualifier in the event. Rascon was also a North Dakota State participant in cross country during her sophomore, junior and senior seasons, and holds personal records of 5:44 in the mile, 12:48 in the two-mile, and 20:47.80 in the 5K. During her track career, she has posted personal records of 6:10.94 in the indoor mile run, and 2:43.75 in the 800m run, 6:02.69 in the 1600m run, and 12:48.54 in the 3200m run.

Rascon join eight student-athletes who announced their intentions to join the Beaver program next season. Joining the distance runner is sprinter Janice Cole, thrower Tierra Doss, hurdler and jumper Andrea Dudley, distance and relay runner Mckenzie Evans, distance runner and hurdler Lily Johnson, jumper and sprinter Lauren McComas, sprinter Paige MIllerman, and distance runner Emma Realing.
