BSU women in third after opening round of SCSU Husky Classic

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (St. Cloud Country Club) -- Bemidji State University senior Marissa Mackedanz (Paynesville, Minn.) turned in a 16-over-par 89 Sunday to lead the BSU women’s golf team in the first round of the 2010-11 St. Cloud State University Husky Classic  The Beavers carded a team total of 370 (+78) to hold down third place with 18 holes to play at the par-73 5,854-yard St. Cloud Country Club in St. Cloud, Minn.

Mackedanz’s 89 (+16) locked the senior in a tie with two others for ninth place individually, just nine strokes off the lead. Augustana’s Jennifer Benoy holds a two stroke lead over teammate Ashley Hendricks (82, +9) to solidify herself as the low individual after 18 holes with a seven-over-par 80.

The University of Manitoba finished the first day of play with a 334 (+52) to grab a 17-shot lead over St. Cloud State (363, +71) for low team honors.  

The final round of the 2010 SCSU Husky Classic will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the St. Cloud Country Club.
