BSU women’s golf team ushers in 2011 season at St. Cloud State Invite
BEMIDJI, Minn. -- The Bemidji State University women’s golf team will lift the lid on the 2011 fall season this weekend as it competes in the St. Cloud State Invitational.

Set for Saturday and Sunday, the 36-hole event hosted by St. Cloud State University, will be played at two locations.  Saturday’s opening round will begin at 1 p.m. at Wapicada Golf Course, while the final round is set for 9 a.m. at Territories Golf Club.

The Beavers have not competed in the St. Cloud State Invitational since the 2009 season when the tandem of Marissa Mackedanz and current senior Kathryn Stoffels (Maple Grove, Minn.) carded matching 176s (+32) to lead Bemidji State to third place (Oct. 4-5).

The 2011-12 BSU women’s golf team features many new faces.  Mark Bagaason took over as head coach in August and has five new faces on the roster to accompany four returning players headlined by three-year veteran Stoffels.

As a junior, Stoffels led the Beavers in stoke average posting a 90.2 in seven events.

Bemidji State returns home Sept. 30 to host an 18-hole event at the Bemidji Town and Country Club.
