BEMIDJI, MINN. - Mercyhurst showed why they are a top 10 team in the country Friday night as the Lakers blanked BSU 8-0 at the John Glas Fieldhouse.The Beavers have now lost five consecutive games, after starting the season 1-0-1.

After jumping out to 2-0 lead after two periods Mercyhurst blew the game open in the third period scoring six goals to secure an 8-0 victory.The six goals allowed in the third period are the most allowed by BSU since a 10-0 loss to Minnesota-Duluth (12-14-02) in the 2002-03 season, in which the Beavers relinquished seven goals in the second period of that contest.

The Lakers received mult-point games from Lindsay Dellow (2g), Chrissy Yule (1g, 1a), Stefanie Bourbeau (1g, 1a) and Samantha Shirley (1g, 2a).

For the game, Mercyhurst outshot BSU 29-9, including an 11-2 mark in the third period.

The Beavers were 0-3 on the power play, while the Lakers finished 1-8.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jill Luebke stopped 16 shots before being pulled with 7:59 left in the final stanza. Freshman Crystal Zace saw her first action as a Beaver, stopping five shots between the pipes.

BSU (1-5-1) will look to salvage a split with Mercyhurst (3-1-1) Saturday night at the John Glas Fieldhouse. The puck will drop at 6:05 p.m.
