Beavers open on-ice practice for 2008-09 campaign

BEMIDJI, Minn. - After months of anticipation, the ice is finally in at John Glas Fieldhouse and the Bemidji State women’s hockey team is ready to begin practicing on the rink.

The first practice of the 2008-09 campaign is scheduled for Saturday.

The Beavers will hit the ice after finishing 4-29-3 overall last season and 1-25-2 in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. They will begin the road to a new season in a home exhibition matchup at 5:07 p.m. on Sept. 26 against the University of Manitoba. The following day, Sept. 27, Bemidji State will play host to Team USA in an exhibition game at 3:07 p.m. for the first time in program history.

After the two exhibition games, the Beavers will hit the road for the first series of the season in a two-game series Oct. 3-4 against Wayne State in Detroit, Mich.
