BEMIDJI, Minn. -- The weekly radio show, “Sports in the Round,” which is held on Wednesday evenings from 6-8 p.m. at The Ground Round, will this week feature the Bemidji State University women’s hockey team. BSU women’s hockey head coach Steve Sertich will be the guest on the show to discuss the Beavers’ match-up at St. Cloud State University in the first round of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association play-offs, taking place Feb. 26-28.
BSU (10-17-7, 9-12-7-3 WCHA) finished the regular season tied for fifth in the WCHA standings with Ohio State University. OSU owned the tie breaker with the Beavers, handing BSU the sixth-seed in the playoffs and sending it to No. 3-seed St. Cloud State. The Beavers and Huskies will battle in a best-of-three series. Earlier this season when BSU traveled to St. Cloud, the Beavers lost the first game of the weekend before forcing a tie the following day.
Also appearing on the show are Bemidji State’s Beaver Pride Athletes of the Week. This week, the male athlete of the week is freshman guard/forward Lance Rongstad (Eleva, Wis.) from the men’s basketball team. The female athlete is women’s trackster junior Kristi Buerkle (Stacy, Minn.).
