Women’s Hockey featured on Sports in the Round
BEMIDJI, Minn. – The weekly radio show, “Sports in the Round,” which is held on Wednesday evenings from 6-8 p.m. at The Ground Round, will this week feature the Bemidji State women’s hockey team. Fifth year head women’s hockey coach Steve Sertich will be the main guest during the first hour of the broadcast to discuss women’s hockey.

The Beavers started their season last weekend against Wayne State University (Mich), going 1-1. BSU begins the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) season this weekend at University of Wisconsin before christening the Bemidji Regional Event Center Oct. 15 at 2:07 p.m. against Mercyhurst.

Also, a pre-recorded interview with freshman defenseman Alex Ehlert (Portage, Wis.) will air. Ehlert earned an assist and was plus-one in her first weekend in the green and white and grew up about an hour north of Madison, Wis., BSU’s destination for this weekend.   

In the second hour, the head football coach from Concordia University, Mark Mauer, will be on to talk about Saturday’s football game against Bemidji State in St. Paul. That game will see two teams at 3-2 overall and 2-2 in the NSIC. The contest is the last outside of the NSIC North for BSU.

Interviews from this week’s Beaver Pride Athletes of the Week, Samantha Ross (Soccer, GK, 5-7, Sr., Stillwater, Minn.) and Andrew Schultz (Football, WR, 6-2, 198, Sr., Grand Forks, N.D.) will also air.

This is the 10th Anniversary Season of Sports in the Round, with all ten years at the Ground Round. As always, the hosts are Brian Schultz, Kelly Schultz and Brian Bissonette.
