Beavers tabbed No. 10 in poll
BEMIDJI, Minn. - The Bemidji State University women’s hockey team is ranked in a tie for 10th with Harvard University in this week’s Division I Women’s Hockey poll. The ranking marks the first time the BSU women's hockey team has been ranked in any poll.

The Beavers are off to one of the best starts in program history with a 6-2-2 (3-2-1-1 WCHA) record through 10 games this season. The start is BSU’s best since boasting a 6-4-0 record to begin the 1999-00 season.

The Beavers picked up a win over No. 2 University of Minnesota Saturday to help catapult themselves into the rankings. The win marked the program’s fourth victory over the Golden Gophers and Steve Sertich’s fourth over a top five opponent. BSU has beaten five opponents ranked in the top five in its history. Minnesota dropped to No. 3 in the nation after splitting the weekend series with the Beavers. The Golden Gophers only losses this season have come to No. 1 Wisconsin and Bemidji State. Bemidji State already beat two top 10 opponents this season in No. 2 Minnesota and No. 10 Providence.

BSU had received votes in the first four polls. The Beavers received the most votes outside of the top 10 heading into last weekend’s Minnesota series.

BSU will look to continue its hot start with another WCHA match-up this weekend as they head to Minnesota State University, Mankato. The Beavers come into the weekend with 10 points in the conference standings and are currently in fourth place behind first-place Minnesota, second-place Ohio State University and third-place University of Wisconsin.
