Stephanie Anderson reflects on winning a gold medal for Team USA

Winning a gold medal. A goal that many athletes strive to accomplish, but very few ever achieve. Bemidji State University women’s hockey player Stephanie Anderson achieved that rare goal Saturday when United State National Team defeated Canada 7-5 to capture the 2015 IIHF World Championship in Malmo, Sweden.


Brittni Mowat named to All-USCHO.com Second Team

Bemidji State University women’s hockey goaltender Brittni Mowat has been named to All-USCHO.com Women’s Second-Team Friday. In addition the USCHO.com honor, Mowat has been named to the CCM/AHCA All-American First Team and the All-WCHA First Team.


Jim Scanlan named USCHO.com National Coach of the Year

Bemidji State University women’s hockey head coach Jim Scanlan has been named USCHO.com National Coach of the Year. Scanlan, who just completed his first season behind the bench, led the Beavers to their most wins in program history (21) and the program’s second ever trip the WCHA Final Face-Off.


Brittni Mowat named to the CCM/AHCA All-American First Team

Bemidji State University women’s hockey goaltender Brittni Mowat has been named to the 2015 CCM/AHCA All-American First Team. Mowat becomes the first BSU player to garner a First-Team All-American accolade. The Glenboro, Manitoba native is also the second player in program history to earn an All-American honor.


Stephanie Anderson to compete in IIHF Women’s World Championship

Bemidji State University women’s hockey player Stephanie Anderson is set to represent the United States in the upcoming IIHF Women’s Hockey World Championships March 28-April 4 in Malmo, Sweden. Anderson, who led the Beavers with 14 goals last season, is the first player in program history to represent the United States in a national competition.


Wisconsin bumps Bemidji State from the WCHA Final Face-Off, 4-0

The Bemidji State University women’s hockey team’s season came to an end in the WCHA Final Face-Off Championship game at the hands of No. 3 University of Wisconsin, 4-0. The Beavers finish the season with a record of 21-17-1.

Bemidji State University defenseman Alexis Joyce has been named the WCHA Rookie of the Week after notching an assist against Minnesota Duluth. The Lakeville, Minn. native led the team with five blocked shots to enhance a BSU defense that allowed just three goals in two games and shut out UMD’s power-play unit in five chances.

The Bemidji State University women’s ice hockey program announced five student-athletes to its 2015-16 signing class Wednesday. Lisa Laiti, Natalie Stanwood , Sylvia Marolt, Emily Bergland and Melissa Hunt all signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Beavers next season.


Mowat named WCHA Defensive Player of the Week

Mowat backstopped a Beavers’ defense that allowed two goals in their series last weekend. Mowat made 57 saves in 59 opportunities for a .966 save percentage. The Glenboro, Manitoba native finished the weekend with a 2-0-0 record to go along with an 1.00 goals against average and helped shut down North Dakota’s power play on four opportunities (0-for-4).


Bemidji State ranked No. 9 in the USCHO.com Poll

Following three straight victories over nationally-ranked foes, the Bemidji State University women’s hockey team is ranked No. 9 in this week’s USCHO.com poll. It is the first time BSU has been ranked in a national poll since Jan. 9, 2012.
