Anderson and Noskowiak named Beaver Pride Athletes of the Week

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University’s Stephanie Anderson (F, 5-9, Jr., North St. Paul, Minn.) and Jordan Noskowiak (WR, 6-3, 216, Sr., Sun Prairie, Wis.) have been selected as Beaver Pride Athletes of the Week, after outstanding individual athletic performances during the week of Sept. 22-28.

Anderson helped Bemidji State women’s hockey team to a series sweep at Robert Morris University Sept. 26-27, propelling BSU to its first 2-0-0 start in program history. Anderson scored a team-high two goals, her sixth and seventh as a Beaver, and finished the nonconference series with a +2 plus/minus rating. Anderson’s first goal of the season in Friday evening's 5-2 season-opening victory stood as the game-winner.

This week’s Beaver Pride Athlete of the Week selection marks the first of Anderson’s career and the first of the season for a member of the BSU women’s hockey team.

Noskowiak matched a career-high in six receptions in the BSU football team’s 34-16 loss to No. 3 Minnesota State University, Mankato, Sept. 27. His six catches went for a season-high 76 receiving yards and a touchdown.  The Sun Prairie, Wis. native averaged 12.7 yards per catch, including a 17-yard reception, to rank second on the team. His touchdown stands as the third of his collegiate career.

The Beaver Pride Athlete of the Week award also marks the first of Noskowiak’s career and the third for the BSU football team in 2014. Noskowiak follows the Sept. 17th selection Blake Holder (WR, 6-2, 198, Fr., Steamwood, Ill.) and last week’s honoree Ryan Shields (QB, 6-1, 181, So., Roseville, Calif.).

The BSU football team (0-4; 0-4 NSIC), hits the road Saturday for a NSIC North showdown with University of Mary (2-2; 2-2 NSIC). Kickoff at Bismarck’s Community Bowl is slated for 2:30 p.m.

The Bemidji State women’s hockey team, now 2-0-0, opens its home schedule this weekend with a rare split series against University of Vermont (Oct. 3) and Rensselaer (Oct. 4). Both games are set for a 7:07 p.m. opening face off at Sanford Center.
