BEMIDJI, Minn. -- The Bemidji State University women’s ice hockey team makes its first road trip since late October this weekend as it travels south to face St. Cloud State University Dec. 12-13 in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) clash.

About St. Cloud State
St. Cloud State is coming into the weekend having lost nine straight games. Despite the losing skid, the Huskies have already surpassed its four-game win total from last season. SCSU is under the leadership of first-year head coach Eric Rud. Rud is 5-13-1 (2-9-1 WCHA) in his first season.
SCSU’s offense has been led by junior Molly Illikainen. Illikainen, a transfer from Providence College, is tied for tenth in the WCHA with eight goals.
Senior Audrey Hanmer has also supplied some offense from the Huskies blue line as she leads the team with six assists. Hanmer has also tallied three goals, which ties her for third on the team.
The Huskies have used two goalies this season and both have at least 10 starts. Julie Friend leads SCSU’s netminders with a 4-7-1 record, while Katie Fitzgerald leads the way in goals against average (2.67) and a .907 save percentage.
Last time out
Bemidji State swept Minnesota State last weekend by scores of 7-4 and 2-0. The sweep is the fourth of the season for the Beavers, which ties a program record. BSU also had four sweeps during the 1999-00 and 2011-12 seasons.
Another Sweep Stat
With the pair of victories, the Beavers improved to 29-24-10 all-time against Minnesota State. It was also the third time in the last four seasons the Beavers have swept MSU in Bemidji, Minn.
Friday’s seven-goal outburst was the most the Beavers have scored in a single game since Nov. 11, 2011 when they scored 11 goals against Lindenwood University. It was also the most goals BSU has scored in a WCHA game since Oct. 21, 2011 when it defeated St. Cloud State, 8-1.
Bemidji State (10-5-1, 6-5-1 WCHA) is one win shy of tying its win total from all of last season (11).
Tougas tallies more points
Kaitlyn Tougas led BSU with three goals over the weekend, which gives her 12 points (7g, 5a) in 10 career games against the Mavericks. Tougas not only leads the team with 14 points (6g, 8a) but has also tallied at least one point in six of the last nine games.
Near Record Breaker
Ivana Bilic notched a career-high four points in Friday’s victory over Minnesota State. The four-point performance is the second-best single-game performance by a defenseman in BSU history. Bilic was two shy of the record, which is six, recorded by Montana Vichorek against St. Cloud State, Oct. 21, 2011.
Sharing the wealth
In addition to Tougas and Bilic, 10 other Beavers tallied at least one point against Minnesota State.
