Bemidji State comes in at No. 10 in latest poll

BEMIDJI, Minn.— After defeating University of Minnesota Duluth in the first round of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Playoffs, the Bemidji State University women’s hockey team has entered the top 10. The Beavers earned 12 points to lock down the No. 10 spot.

This is the first time the Beavers have entered the been ranked in the poll since Dec. 15, 2014 when they came in at No. 9. BSU has been ranked or received votes in the poll in 13 of the 21 weeks this season.

Fellow WCHA members; University of Minnesota, University of Wisconsin and University of North Dakota were ranked 2, 3 and 8 in the poll, respectively while Minnesota Duluth also received eight votes.

The Beavers will make their second ever trip the WCHA Final Faceoff, as they will face No. 2 Minnesota in the tournament’s first semifinal matchup Saturday. The puck is scheduled to drop between the Beavers and Golden Gophers at 2:07 p.m. from Ralph Engelstad Arena. The other semifinal game will be North Dakota against Wisconsin at 5:07 p.m. The winners of the two semifinal games will play for the WCHA’s automatic bid into the NCAA tournament Sunday at 1:07 p.m.
