BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University women’s hockey team announced its 2015-16 season schedule Monday with the Beavers looking to build upon their record-setting 2014-15 campaign. BSU is scheduled to play 34 games in 2015-16, 18 of which will be played at Sanford Center. Bemidji State will begin its regular season hosting Robert Morris University at Sanford Center on Sept. 25-26.
Following its series with Robert Morris, BSU will make its only non-conference road trip Oct. 2-3 when it travels to University of Vermont. BSU, which knocked off the Catamounts 4-0 last season in Bemidji, will make its first trip to Burlington, V.T. since 2006.
The Beavers will return home to open the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) schedule with a series against University of Minnesota Duluth Oct. 9-10. Bemidji State knocked the Bulldogs out of last season’s WCHA Playoffs in three games.
Bemidji State then will see a home-and-home against University of North Dakota Oct. 16-17 with a home game Friday and will hit the road Saturday. The Beavers will then travel to University of Wisconsin Oct. 23-24 before returning home to play host to St. Cloud State University Oct. 30-31.
BSU will not play a single home game in November. The team will play just two series, and both will be on the road. The Beavers will travel to Columbus, Ohio to battle the Ohio State University Nov. 7-8 and will close out their month in Minneapolis, Minn. against University of Minnesota Nov. 13 and Nov. 15.
The Beavers will close out the 2015 portion of their schedule with three of their last four games played at home. BSU will face North Dakota in another home-and-home series Dec. 4-5 before closing out 2015 hosting Minnesota State University, Mankato Dec. 11-12.
To start the New Year, the Beavers will travel to St. Cloud, Minn. to battle St. Cloud State Jan. 1-2. BSU will return home for a four-game home stand against Lindenwood University (Jan. 8-9) and Wisconsin (Jan. 15-16). Bemidji State will wrap up January facing Minnesota Duluth on the road (Jan. 22-23) and hosting Minnesota (Jan. 29-30).
Following its final bye week, Bemidji State will host Ohio State Feb. 12-13 and close out the regular season Feb. 19-20 at Minnesota State.
The first round of the WCHA playoffs will take place Feb. 26-28 with the top four seeds hosting those series. The winners from the first round will play for an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament in the WCHA Final Face-Off March 4-6 at Ridder Arena. Four conference champions and four at-large teams will then play for a national championship in the NCAA Tournament, beginning the following week.
