BEMIDJI, Minn. – Sophomore Haley Mack was selected as the NCAA’s Third Star of the week after leading the Bemidji State University women’s hockey team to a series sweep over Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) this past weekend.
The East Grand Forks, Minn., native tied for the Western Collegiate Hockey Association lead in goals (3) and points (5) and posted her first career two-goal game, including the game-winning goal, in a 5-2 win, Dec. 8. Mack finished the night with three points after adding an assist and followed by posting a goal and assist in Saturday’s 3-1 victory.
Mack factored in on five of the teams eight goals over the weekend and was a key member of both power play and penalty kill units by tallying two power-play points (1g-1a) and scored a short-handed goal. Mack also led the league with 15 shots on net and tied for the league lead by going +4 over the weekend.
Mack is the first member of the BSU women’s hockey team to be selected as one of the NCAA’s Stars of the week since its inauguration at the start of the 2017-18 season.
Joining Mack is Shea Tiley from Clarkson University and Victoria Bach from Boston University who were named the second and first stars, respectively.
