BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Bemidji State University women’s hockey freshman Mak Langei earned her first career Western Collegiate Hockey Association weekly award after being named the WCHA Rookie of the Week, Oct. 17.
The East Grand Forks, Minn., native earns the award after posting her first career multi-point game against No. 9 University of Minnesota in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Gophers, Oct. 14. Langei began the night by tallying her first career point and assist on the game’s first goal followed by scoring the game-tying goal and the first of her career in the second period.
Langei tied for the team lead with two points over the weekend and tied for second among freshman in the WCHA.
In addition to Langei, Minnesota’s Sydney Baldwin was named the league’s Offensive Player of the Week while Ohio State University’s Kassidy Sauve won Defensive Player of the Week.
The Beavers will try to take down top-ranked University of Wisconsin this weekend when they travel to LaBahn Arena to face the No. 1 Badgers, Oct. 20-21.
