A schedule featuring 21 regular-season games, 15 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) contests and 11 home contests awaits the 2012 Bemidji State soccer team in 2012, as head coach Jim Stone today announced the schedule for the program’s 17th season of collegiate competition.

Bemidji State University women’s soccer head coach Jim Stone has announced three youth soccer opportunities for the summer of 2012. The program’s Developmental Camp (ages 7-12) is set for June 11-15, it’s College Bound Academy (ages 13-18) will take place Aug 3-5 and its Varsity Prep Camp is slated for Aug 8-9.

Bemidji State University head soccer coach Jim Stone announced the commitments of 12 recruits for the 2012 season Wednesday. Hillary Arechigo, Stephanie Brown, Megan-Rae Castro, Carly Dietrich, Anna Edgren, Kassandra Franke, Abigail Nyquist, Emily Olson, Nicole Parsons, Melanie Simonson, Bre Sollie and Brittany Tietz each signed National Letters of Intent to play soccer for the Beavers beginning next season.

February 1 officially marks the beginning of the 2012 season for the Bemidji State University football and women’s soccer programs as they announce their 2012 signing classes. A live press conference is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. in room 230 of the Physical Education Building on the campus of BSU.

Head Coach Jim Stone acknowledge the accomplishments of the 2011 Bemidji State women’s soccer team for the feats performed this past season by handing out the annual team awards. The BSU women’s soccer team finished the season with a 8-8-3 overall record and a 6-4-3 mark in the NSIC.

The Maplewood, Minn. native will join the Beavers for the 2011 season after redshirting during her first collegiate season as a member of the University of Minnesota women’s soccer program. She will have four years of NCAA eligibility remaining and will be able to compete when the team hits the pitch this fall.

Entering the 2010 season, the coaches of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference had voted the Bemidji State University soccer team to finish sixth. However, defying expectations is something that the Beavers have become very skilled at doing in recent years and the soccer team finished third in the conference and narrowly missed the NCAA regional tournament after finishing eighth in the NCAA Central Region Poll.

Domiano has anchored the Beaver defense this season, which has earned eight clean sheets and held opponents to 14 goals so far this season.

The games are slated to begin at 4:30 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively. The games between the Golden Bears and Huskies are big in the NSIC as the three teams enter the weekend in a four-way tie for first place.

After finishing in sixth place last year with an overall record of 11-6-2, BSU received 104 points in the poll alongside Augustana College which also received 104 points in the poll.
