ST. PAUL, Minn. – Three Bemidji State soccer players garnered All-NSIC Team selections the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced on Wednesday.
Junior forward Ashlee Ellefsen (Hugo, Minn.) was named All-NSIC First Team. This is her third conference-postseason award in her career after being named to the second team her freshman year and to the third team her sophomore year. Ellefsen is one of Bemidji State’s all-time premier scorers having broken the school records for both career points (80) and career goals (32).
Junior defender Alysha Domiano (Dayton, Minn.) was named All-NSIC Second Team. This too is her highest postseason award in her career. Domiano was named Honorable Mention in both her freshman and sophomore years. She has been a crucial part in the Beaver backline all year. Her efforts in the defensive third have helped the Beavers limit their opponents to just 16 goals so far this season.
Senior defender Linsey Olesiak (Hermantown, Minn.) was named All-NSIC Honorable Mention. The award is the first-ever of its type for Olesiak. As a captain on the field, Olesiak brings leadership to a team full of young talent. Olesiak plays alongside teammate Domiano on the backline, which has been one of the keys to the success the Beavers have experienced this season.
Also today, NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer Committee has released the NCAA Division II women’s soccer poll for the central region. Bemidji State is currently ranked 10th after knocking Colorado Christian College from the rankings. In ninth place is St. Cloud State University, whom the Beavers play Wednesday night in the first round of the NSIC tournament.
