Bemidji State soccer draws with St. Thomas in exhibition play

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Maria Mcleod (So., M, White Bear Lake, Minn.) scored a goal and Sonja Barr (Fr., GK, Duluth, Minn.) made five saves as the Bemidji State University soccer team battled the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) to a 1-1 draw in exhibition play Thursday.

Mcleod broke the scoreless tie in the 50th minute when she headed a corner kick off the foot of Mary O'Brien (Fr., F, Maplewood, Minn.) into the back of the net.

The Tommies bounced back to knot the score at 1-1 on an unassited goal in the 75th minute, but neither team was able take control during the final 15 minutes and would finish the exhibition with a draw.

Bemidji State hits the road this weekend, continubeing exhibition play at Carleton College in Northfield, Minn.  The contest is slated for 1 p.m.

The Beaver open the regular-season Sept. 3 versus regional opponent Michigan Tech.
