BEMIDJI, Minn. -- The Bemidji State University soccer team will host a spaghetti feed at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 12 at the Bemidji, Minn. Elks Club. All proceeds from the event will be designated for the team's trip to Costa Rica in August.
Tickets for the dinner can be purchased prior to the event from any member of the BSU soccer team, by calling Andy at 218-755-2325, or at the door for $10.
In addition to a spaghetti dinner, those attending will have an opportunity to bid on several silent auction items, including autographed NHL collectables from former Beaver and current member of the Philadelphia Flyers Matt Read as well as Jimmy O'Brien of the Ottawa Senators.
While in Costa Rica August 7-14, Head Coach Jim Stone and the team will work with impoverished children, train for the 2013 season and play three games, one of which may be versus the Costa Rican National Team.
Bemidji State completed the 2012 campaign with an overall record of 10-7-2, while it finished sixth in the final NSIC standings owning a 8-5-2 mark in league play. BSU made the NSIC postseason tournament for the eighth time under Stone, falling in the first round to Upper Iowa University, 1-0. Following the season, seven BSU soccer players were named to the Fall Academic All-NSIC team; Mary O’Brien (So., F, Maplewood, Minn.), Tiffany VanHaaften (Jr., M, Chaska, Minn.), Sam Lumberg (Jr., D, Woodbury, Minn.) and Megan Castro (Fr. M, Winnipeg, Manitoba) were tabbed to the All-NSIC squad; O’Brien and Lumberg garnered 2012 NSCAA/Continental Tire Women’s NCAA Division II All-Central Region Team honors; and VanHaaften was named to the Capitol One/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) College Division Academic All-District First Team.
