MANKATO, Minn. (The Pitch) -- No. 23 Minnesota State got a goal in the 89th minute of play to steal a 1-0 victory from Bemidji State Sunday in Mankato, Minn.
The Mavericks broke a scoreless match on a goal from Jenny Vetter with just over 100 seconds to play to avoid overtime and hand the Beavers their second consecutive loss.
While MSU nearly doubled BSU's total shot attempts, 19-10, the Beavers and Mavericks each logged eight shots on goal.
BSU goalkeeper Emma Riedi stopped seven of the eight shot she faced. She falls to 5-2-1 on the season.
The Beavers, now 8-4-1 overall and 7-2-1 in NSIC play, return to Bemidji, Minn. and Chet Anderson Stadium at 6 p.m. Friday to open a NSIC weekend of play with a match up with Wayne State College. BSU will also host Augustana University at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Beavers' annual Cheryl Smith Cancer Awareness game.
